ABOUT THE CUMANN GAELACH
The main objective of the Trinity Cumann Gaelach (Irish Society) is the promotion of the Irish language in Trinity College, Dublin. The Society organizes many events throughout the year such as céilís, receptions and the traditional, annual 'Fake wake', as well as debating competitions, lectures and Irish language films. Every year, an entire week is dedicated to the Irish language at the beginning of Hilary Term. We meet every Tuesday at the 'Ciorcal Comhrá' in order to give people a chance to get to know each other and to speak Irish regularly. This is followed by much merriment in Club Chonradh na Gaeilge...
MEMBERSHIP
You can become a member of the Cumann by going to the Cumann Gaelach stand in Parliament Square during Freshers' Week. If you miss us there, all you need to do is click "join" on the site or come to some event during the year. Posters advertising events are posted throughout college, here on the website, and in our regular mailings.
AN CIORCAL COMHRÁ
The Conversation Circle is on this year in the society room (Room 8) upstairs in the Atrium, nearly every Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm (check emails and this website to make sure it's on this week). Directions to the room are available below. The Conversation Circle is a great chance to get to know other society members and to improve your Irish at the same time! See you there!!!
ACCOMMODATION SCHEME
There are two accommodation schemes in Trinity College for students. They are situated in Parliament Square and in Dartry, Dublin 6 (for junior fresh students). These schemes offer students a chance to use their Irish as their first language.
