9 Mar '10 | ÉIGSE: TRINITY IRISH WEEK

ÉIGSE: TRINITY'S IRISH LANGAUGE FESTIVAL

Irish language Week (Éigse) is finally upon us!! This is the most important week for the Irish language in Trinity because it is a festival to be celebrated by every single person in the college (not just the members of An Cumann Gaelach). Éigse gives everyone a chance to go to various events while at the same time using their Irish. The week's events begin with the Launch of 'Tuathal' (the Cumann Gaelach's magazine) in the Atrium at 1pm. See the timetable above.

NB: Just a small but very important thing about Éigse. During all the fun, the Ball, the Gig etc..The Cumann have organised to collect money for two charities very important to the Cumann and to the Irish Department-Shane's Homeless Fund and for the Hospice in Raheny. You'll see the white buckets at most of our events during the week so please give whatever you can during Éigse. If you want any more info. just ask a member of theCumann Gaelach committee. Also if you have any bus tickets with refunds left on them you can throw them into the buckets too and they'll be greatly appreciated.

Éigse's Big Nights
As you can see, there's going to be loads of various different events going on all week. The biggest night of the week is the Gig Mór with Aslan in the Village (The Hounds of Culann and a DJ after too). Tickets for this Gig will be on sale Monday from the stand in the Arts' Block. Tickets to the Irish Ball After-Party will also be on sale.

You were told that the first 100 to buy ticket(s) would get a free Éigse T-shirt. These can be collected from front Square at 3pm on Monday.

Fáinní Interviews
Anyone who wished to do an interview for a fáinne, but couldn't make it the last day come to the Atrium at 12.45pm on Monday to do your interview.

The Heart of the Language (=You!)
We're going to be taking a huge photo in Front Square at 3pm Monday, with everybody forming the shape of a heart and dressed in red Éigse T-shirts (These T-shirts will be provided). GAA star James "Cha" Fitzpatrick to be present also!

Lá na Gaeilge(Irish Day)
Want a free t-shirt and free breakfast? The Sceim Chonaithe will be turning the campus into an all-Irish campus Tuesday 16th March. You'll get a free T-shirt and a free breakfast for signing up. You can join in the fun by signing up on Tuesday March 9th at the stand in the Arts Block with 5e sponsorship or more. Why? To raise the profile of Irish on Campus and raise money for the Student Assistance Fund at the same time. It's open to anyone who has an interest in Irish.
