Shuffle
Hi all,
Lisa here, your Cumann Ents officer, If you've any ideas for nights out etc just let me know at any stage and we'll talk :) Our next big Cumann event is a very important one which we'll be doing in conjunction with the Cancer soc. and Ents Its a charity night and all the info is below. It'll be on the 25th November-Wednesday in Doyles on college green starting around 9pm.
The event itself is called "Shuffle", because when everyone picks a different song, it's like one big iPod being on shuffle- More on that below. It's in Doyles of College Green, upstairs. Tickets are 3 euro at stands in Trinity and entrance at the door is 5 euro. All of this money goes to ARC Cancer support http://www.arccancersupport.ie . Doyles are giving great drinks deals- selected shots 3 euro, selected alcopops 3 euro, pints of Miller 4 euro, jagerbombs 5.50, and Free mixers with every short. selected cheap drinks :) The night will be split into 2 parts- the competition (the "shuffle" bit) then the 'club' part. There'll be a prize presentation in between. The competition part runs from 9:30 to about 11 or 12, and it'll go like this: every ticket entitles you to 1 song. You bring in an mp3 player, select a song then give it to the DJ or whoever is at the DJ box. You can play any amount of extra songs for 1 euro a pop- this also goes to ARC. People will have to pick up their iPods straight away, but it'll be relatively safe- We'll have a system of tagging iPods to avoid losing them or mixing them up.
Top prize so far is a 19" flat screen TV, and there'll be other stuff too. There'll probably be a few categories like 'Most original', 'best oldie', The second part, the 'club' part is from then until 2.30, is a Live performance by "Black Box", and a live DJ set..which is always a great night.
Tickets will be on sale all of the week leading up to the night at a stand in the Arts Block and I'll be there some of the time with people from the Ents crew and the Cancer soc. so if you've any problems just come to me or send me and email :)
We will have concessions to Wax too, so you can just come for a while and start the night in Doyles if you're going out, and the tickets will work out roughly the same price as Wax would without the concession. Would be really great to see you all there,All of us know someone who's been affected by Cancer so it'll be a great and very worth the 3euro night!:) And It'll be another great chance to get involved in the Cumann and practic e your Irish and hear some Irish music too!
